Apparently, I'm overthinking this ...

This weeks Triangulation podcast revealed something that was surprising to me: most writers don't work anywhere near as hard on their stories as I do.
This wouldn't be surprising to me if the other writers I was talking to hadn't been considerably more successful than me.
I hear this kind of thing a lot, the whole, "you're trying too hard." The problem is that when I don't try hard, nothing happens at all. It's only when I try hard that I have a modicum of success. Nothing in my life has ever just come along for me -- it's always required herculean effort on my part.
Anyway, listen to the podcast and decide for yourself whether I'm trying too hard.
