One Tip to Lose Belly Fat

You've probably seen ads like this all over the place. You may or may not have heard that a number of them are scams of downright criminal proportions.

Even when such plans are legal, they don't really work. They don't because there is no magic cure for obesity. If there was, we wouldn't have a problem with obesity, because pretty much everyone wants to be a healthy weight.

There's a part of me that thinks, "anyone who would fall for such 'one simple trick' nonsense deserves what they get." That's probably unfair, there's lots of misinformation out there; and with it all flying around backed by billions of advertising dollars, it can be pretty easy to get confused.

The thing is, there really is one tip to losing belly fat (and all other types of fat, for that matter). It's been around so long that nobody can make money off it any more, and it's so ubiquitous that many people don't even bother to notice it. It's so well proven that colleges and other research institutes don't even bother to test it any more.

Burn more Calories than you consume.

It's that simple. There don't need to be any long papers to explain it: it can be expressed adequately in a single sentence. I could go into more detail, I suppose: if you burn more Calories than you eat, you will lose weight. If you burn the same amount that you eat, you will maintain your weight. If you eat more Calories than you burn, you will gain weight.

Of course, if it's so simple, why are so many people still struggling with their weight? Because actually doing that one thing is trickier than it sounds. Information about how many Calories are in foods is often missing. Lots of the foods that are easy to come by and frequently eaten are cripplingly high in Calories. People generally don't like to exercise. Add to that the tons of misinformation about Calories (like the "foods that help you burn fat" nonsense) and you have a simple activity that is clouded in confusion.

I'm going to continue to post to dispel rumors and provide information on how to successfully manage weight. But until those posts go up, you can start right now by determining if your weight management plan is based on that one fact above. If it isn't, it is going to do more to line the pockets of some corporation than actually help you manage your weight.

So get started now: if your weight management plans are not based on Calorie management, then abandon them and pick up a plan based on Calorie management.

More to come.
